Thursday's Thoughts

Sorry for my short hiatus from the blog world! I have a lot going on and blogging has been put on the back burner for the time being. I'm right in the middle of some big life changes (details soon!) so I'll be hit and miss for the next few weeks. I'm still reading all of your blogs and trying to comment on as many as possible.

Thursday's Thoughts
I need a haircut.

The Hunger Games lived up to the hype (for me, anyway)! I loved every minute of it.

Liam Hemsworth is cute and he has an accent. How did I not know any of this? I only knew of him because he is Miley's boyfriend. Lucky girl. (And Thor is his brother!)

Another movie that is awesome? 21 Jump Street. It was hilarious. I think I almost wet my pants from laughing so much. TMI?

I really want to visit New Orleans and Charleston!

Doesn't carrot cake make you think of Easter? I don't know why, but it does for me. I had a really good recipe for carrot cake a few years ago, but have since lost it. I'm trying to decide between this one and this one for an upcoming Easter get-together.

This season of Dancing with the Stars has been so boring. I really hope it gets better.

I gave up on the March Photo a Day challenge on Instagram. It was tedious. But here are a few pictures I've taken recently:

The eggplant parmesan subs are brilliant! I came up with the idea when Chris and I were desperately walking through Trader Joe's trying to figure out dinner one night. RECIPE: Just take the eggplant cutlets (found in the freezer section by the pizzas) and bake them for 12 minutes. While that's happening, open a jar of marinara sauce and heat it up on the stove top. Chris usually adds a bunch of herbs and stuff to make it really tasty. Buy the parbaked french baguette and toast it in the oven for about 7 minutes. When the loaf is baked, cut it into sandwich size sections and then in half. Add 2 to 3 of the eggplant rounds to each sandwich, top with hot marinara, and throw on some shredded mozzarella cheese. Add the top half of the bread and put it back in the oven for a few minutes to get all toasty and melted together. It's delicious! And only takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. Also, the leftovers keep brilliantly and heat up nicely in the microwave the next day.

I didn't win the Mega Millions Lottery drawing on Tuesday night. Boo! But the good news is that no one else did either! The pot is now up to $476 million for tomorrow night. What in the world would you do with all that money?

My birthday is in 27 days! Please, please, please let there be an iPad under the birthday tree :) Yes, I'm still obsessing over it. And yes, I actually want the 2 over the newest one.

I'm meeting up with Kate for brunch on Sunday! I can't wait to see her and catch up on life!

These are just a few of the millions of thoughts racing through my mind at any given moment lately. Anyway, thanks for reading my blog today. I hope everyone is enjoying the nice spring weather!

Monday...again!

  • This dog kills me. He is so cute! Sammy has a Facebook page too (I mean, what dog doesn't these days?) and is always posting adorable photos, and he's also on Instagram @sammyandthecity.
  • I picked up some Girl Scout cookies over the weekend! I had to track those little ladies down using the Find Cookies locator on their website. Last year, I didn't get any until really late in the season, which is totally unacceptable. I got my tried & true favorites - Samoa's and Tagalong's.
  • I am stoked that Apple has released a new iPad model! This means that the price of the iPad 2 has dropped by $100, making it a much more attainable item for me! I couldn't care less about the upgrades the new model has and I will be very happy to have the "old" one...my birthday is coming up, and I've been dropping hints to my mom. Maybe she'll give in :)
  • Tonight is the 3 hour (!!!) season finale of The Bachelor. I'm already dreading it. Look at what Courtney is wearing...I'm not a fashion guru but those gloves are really stupid! Plus, how is Ben going to put a ring on her finger (if he proposes, but let's not pretend he's going to finally make a good decision at the end of this thing...we know which head he is thinking with...)
  • PS - If anyone from ABC happens to read this, I'd like you to know that bringing Courtney back to the Women Tell All taping to apologize was the dumbest thing you could have done. I think she hurt her cause and looked even worse than before, if that's even possible! Courtney isn't sorry for the things she did to hurt people, she is only sorry that she got caught.
  • I am in love with Jason Statham. Seriously, he is HOT. Our weekend could be officially known as A Very Statham Weekend, since all we did was watch his movies! We watched Crank, Crank 2, The Expendables, The Bank Job, and The Transporter. My favorite of his right now is The Mechanic.
  • Did you know that I rode my bike 3 days last week and on Saturday too? Probably not, since I've completely slacked on updating my Bike Stats page. I rode a few days in February, and didn't even track it! I'm so annoyed with myself because I want to know when I hit my goal of 1,400 miles. I guess I have about 250 to go :)
I hope everyone is having a good day so far! It's Monday so how good can it really be? Which reminds me, I work with a guy that is always saying, "It's almost Friday..." even when it's only Monday. Ha!

Look!

Are you guys watching Smash?

I really liked the pilot episode, didn't like the next two episodes, liked the 4th one, and REALLY liked this week's. I am going to continue to watch for two reasons - 1) Chris is IN LOVE with Kathrine McPhee and 2) my sister-in-law Amy is real-life friends with Raza Jaffrey. He plays Dev on the show, and I think he does a fantastic job! (I'm really hoping he doesn't cheat on Karen with RJ because that would not be cool.)

Anyway, I decided to tweet him last week, and I received a response! From a celebrity! I was so excited. But now that I think about it, I shouldn't have said "convinced" because that sounds like I really had to be talked into watching it, which wasn't the case. Now I feel bad...oops.

The John he is referring to is my brother (Amy's husband)! So cool :)

Now let's see if Bobby Deen responds to the tweet I sent him...

Also, I had to share this with everyone! Cupcake ATMs. I'm speechless!

Bookworm

I have fallen back in love with my Nook. Well I was never out of love with it, but I just wasn't reading very much because I was watching too much television. I've since taken a break from all the tv-ing and spent a couple hours before bed reading instead!

I read a true-crime novel called Flawless, about the largest diamond heist in history. It was so interesting and read just like Ocean's 11, except it was all true. Now I'm obsessed with diamonds. As if I wasn't already...sheesh. (I should add a disclaimer that I am really into heist movies so that's why I enjoyed this book.)

I also read, and LOVED, Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? This book is so funny! I only know who Mindy Kaling is because of her part in No Strings Attached, but this book has made me want to read/see everything she's done in her career. I better start with Season 1 of The Office...I highly recommend this book - it's a quick read and will have you laughing from the very beginning!

Of course I had to also read Tina Fey's Bossypants. I'm only halfway through this one. So far it is funny, but not as funny as Mindy's book. I think it's because I don't understand as many of the references Tina makes, since she's older than me. I keep having to ask Chris who or what so and so is. I'm pretty sure he would really like the book because every time I ask him about something he knows exactly what I'm talking about and thinks it's funny. Regardless, it's a good one to read before bed because you don't have to concentrate too much!

What have you read lately? Anything you enjoyed that I should know about? I'm almost done with Bossypants so I'll need a new book soon!

Thursday's Thoughts

Please note: I have run out of blog material. I'm bored with myself so I can't imagine how my readers feel! It's not that I don't have things I want to blog about. I have plenty I want to say, but...

There are things going on in the background. When you have an idea that you are really excited about, your first instinct is to shout it from the rooftops. Upon further inspection, you realize it might not be in your (or others' who are invested in your life) best interest to share right away. So I'll keep it at that. Every little thing starts with an idea...and that's where we are right now. A beautiful, fun and exciting idea!

Enough with the vague talk - let's get back to this Thursday's Thoughts!

  • Happy March!
  • I am going to participate in the March Photo A Day challenge because I've realized all the fun things going on with Instagram and I want to be a part of it! (I had my settings on private since I downloaded the app so I didn't realize it was so awesome until recently...follow me if you'd like @sweetteadiaries)

  • It's only March 1, but I ate my first Cadbury Creme Egg of the season. Technically I ate it yesterday, making it still during the month of February. Oops. But it was so good!
  • I'm ashamed of this, but Chris & I watch The Bachelor. Are any of you watching? Trust me, we don't tune in for Ben, who I think is the worst Bachelor in the history of the show. We watch because of Courtney. She is hilarious! And awful. (But mostly hilarious.) There is a point to this. We were at the mall last weekend to waste time and I picked up a jewelry catalog from one of the stores, and guess who was in it? COURTNEY! As a bride!!!!!!!!!! So funny.

her face with a black magic marker!)
